  • Come Save... revisited

    Isn't it that time again?
When things don't seem to go our way... things seem to go against us.... we don't seem to understand why all these things are happening.... yet in the midst of it all God is there.... Our GREAT and MIGHTY God... is there... holding our world in the palm of His hand.....

I guess just lately, like always lol hehe, so much has been happening in my life. And it's the time again where this song has become my hope....

    Here's a bit of nostalgia: http://weblog.xanga.com/alio7/507795740/item.html
It's the link to the blog post bout Camp Identity 2006 when Come Save was written.

I don't know, but I just find it ironic that I'm singing this song again at this point in time. =)

Romans 10:13: "Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved..."

I might update this post later on when i'm more awake but I want to share this with you guys:
It's a new recording of the song Come Save - done of course using my new gadgets, the Pod X3L as well as computer programs such as Ableton Live and Adobe Audition.

    Click to download Come Save
EDIT: I've changed the link as I've made some edits. Just corrected a pitch issue in the vocals in verse 1, and changed some of the levels of the instruments and vocals! Not much! But yeh.. makes me happy haha...

Recording notes: all done by myself. Used Pod X3L with Fender HSS Strat with a couple of pedals including the Guyatone ST-2 Compressor, Fulltone FD2 Mosfet and Boss DD-7. Used a SM57 mic for the vocals. The vocals probably need more tidying up. I'm not in tune all the time, and there's a lot of 'air' and 'popping noises'. Sorry bout that but hope u can still enjoy it! Drums, bass, synths were done in Ableton. The piano sound is from a keyboard i found around the house used with the Pod X3L delay.

    God bless guys!

  • "The Anthem" - v2

Heya guys, just a small update on the recording for "hallelujah" i did below.
Recently I wasn't happy with out the first version sounded, so just did some slight changes. Not much difference though. Drums are a bit louder, and the start is a bit louder too and i *tried* to improve the drum fill in at the end of the instrumental but still not perfect but its not bad!
The song is also called "The Anthem" as on the Planetshakers album - All for Love!

You prob don't have to download if you don't want but yeh!

  • guitar guitars...

man i havn't updated for so long.. but i wanted to share this:

hehe.. two of my passions combined!! POKEMON and guitars!! (now you know why i wanted to become a pokemon trainer hehe)

but yeh, am studying for exams at the moment, with 3 coming up that yeh, is taking me a while to prepare for unfortunately. Havn't been doing much, i really should start recording more stuff or writing new songs.

My Pod X3L has been out of action the past few weeks, already been bout 2.5 weeks it's been out. something crashed, main board crashed i don't know >.< Since i shipped it from the US, warranty is only valid there, so i took it to a local repairer here to get it repaired out of warranty. $538. .... i promptly took my pod back and lost the $66 booking fee i had to pay. I should've just sent it to america in the first place because it costs me $149 to ship it there AND it'll get done faster. The guy said he'll express ship it back and I should get it within 3 weeks from now. If I went through and paid the $538 to do it here, because of where they will get the part from, i won't get it back until AUGUST.... when it comes to electronics.. australia doesn't have it that well... AUD$1099 for POD X3L here and if something goes wrong, you're without it for a few months.... people say you shouldn't buy from the US cause of warranty. This experience has said that buy from the US anyway. save money AND time. =)

So in light of that.... in preparing to completing my guitar rig i've ordered - a boss dd-7 delay, and a Guyatone ST-2 Compressor along with a George L cable kit and they even chucked in a free 1spot multi-plug 5 daisy chain to power the pedals! Along with the Pod X3L and Fulldrive 2 Mosfet, i think my setup will be finally complete! When i get it, i'll set it all up (very very tight fit on my board) and take some pictures and record some sounds ^.^

ALSO! the new planetshakers album - "all for love" is out! Picked it up last sunday at Planetshakers City Church. Great album, and hallelujah is actually called "The Anthem". fantastic song and really powerful. Praise God! I remixed my version a little (not much changes, just made the drums louder and other minor tweaks). And once i get my rig setup, i'll TRY to post some clips on how to play some of the songs!

In the mean time - Here's a tab for a couple parts of All for Love:
    INTRO RIFF:

  • Hallelujah!

Hallelujah! You have won the victory
Hallelujah! You have won it all for me
Death could not hold You down, You are the risen King
Seated in majesty, You are the risen King

Download the MP3 of this song below

Those lyrics are from a chorus that really touched me at Planetshakers 2008! The new year has come, we're now in 2008 and on Janurary 2nd to the 5th, Planetshakers conference was happening at Vodafone arena. The conference was awesome, and a great reminder to me of the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for you and I. I don't think any of us will ever comprehend what it is like for someone to die for you, to die for you so that you could be saved! The love and compassion God has for us is amazing.

Since going to planetshakers, it's another reminder that we need to rise above the situations around us that hold us down and proclaim the victory in the name of Jesus! He has won it all for us and it is through Him we are saved. It's time to say good bye to the things that have happened in the past. I know for myself, 2007 was a tough year. There were lotsa struggles and I was losing my passion for Christ. It's time to change that. It's time to realise that we have to say goodbye to those things and look forward, always relying on the strength that comes from Jesus Christ. It's time to set ourselves FREE from the things that hold us down.

John 8:36 - "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

Hallelujah - a word of praise to God, our father and Saviour!

As soon as I got back from planetshakers, this song was not on their latest album, and I had a urge to record my own version of it so I can listen to it wherever I go and proclaim the victory!! It's playing in the background right at this moment and let's never forget that we have the victory through Christ Jesus our GOD and SAVIOUR!

Download: http://sharebee.com/2bc2d03b (click on any of the 4 mirrors. Megaupload is fast, zshare is good too)

Recording Notes: This was recorded using my new Pod X3 Live Multi-fx Guitar/Bass/Vocal pedal using drum kit, keys and bass programmed in Ableton Live 6. It was all then mixed in Adobe Audition 3.
Credits: Music and Lyrics by Planetshakers. All instruments played by myself. Vocals by my older brother Anthony and myself!

EDIT: The streaming (well at least on my computer) is broken!!! For some reason the pitch is different. It's prob because of the format of the file and how it plays on the flash player. So at the moment, please download the real version and ignore the streaming one as it sounds different! The streaming will stll play however....

  • Praise You

    "I will praise You.."

So yeh... i'm in the midst of exams.. had Clinical Pharmacy exam yesterday... was alrite, should pass...
but i really should be studying now.. aii... instead what did i do?

Praise You - Planetshakers (abridged - intro, verse and chorus)

    Download Link: http://sharebee.com/523a1963
*link updated with a slight remix - made bass guitar softer and kick drum louder (not reflected in the xanga audio)

    >.<.. i knowww.... i should've studied and slept earlier... but aii.. i got really carried away, and it turned out really well!! So this is wat happens when i work on this stuff from 1am to 5am >.<...
But yeh i really love this song... fun to play, but also a reminder to me, that we should Praise God in everything.. because he deserves it all.. nothing compares to His love, His mercy and His grace....

Well, back to studying again... hope you enjoy this clip! I really loved making it, and I think it's the best one that i've done... with The Welcome Song coming a very close 2nd =)

    God bless guys!

    aLio

*Extra Notes: All parts were done by myself. I continued to use Ableton Live 6.. the only instruments are 3 guitar parts, drums (mix between the included drums in ableton and the NS-Free-Kit drum samples) and a bass line. No synths or any other instruments. The guitars had no post-eq adjustments .... two of the guitar parts played exactly the same thing but had different amp/cab simulations and were panned hard left and right. This is a really good technique i picked up! It really does add to the overall sound of the guitars! I recorded the clip only using a QWERTY keyboard for the MIDI stuff (soo hard sometimes >.<) and my Korg AX1500G multi-fx guitar pedal (surprised at the sound i got out of it on this recording =P) hooked up into the line in of my computer.... amazing what you can do with limited equipment >.<....
